The Anti Fungal Diet: Not a cleanse!

How to treat a fungal infection accurately.

I once embarked on an anti-candida diet; I felt amazing by the end. My skin cleared up, I felt lean, and I felt strong.

How long did you do it for?

Oh, God only two weeks it was so hard and totally unrealistic to sustain.

This is how the conversation usually goes when I speak to people/clients about cleansing, candida, yeast or fungal infections. I use the Kaufmann Diet when helping clients eradicate their fungal infection which can be any of the following:

  • Candida spp.

  • Candida albicans

  • Geotrichum spp.

  • Microsporidium spp.

  • Rodotorula spp.

Fact: Fungi are a unique collection of single-cell and multicellular organisms that have their own kingdom, separate from the plant and animal kingdoms. Mycology is the dedicated field of study for fungi, concerned with discovering new species, as well as exploring how to use them in various industries or applications that can benefit humanity

This is what Doug Kaufmann says about the diet:

This diet minimises fungal food because it reduces sugars that fungi require to grow. Often, people begin to challenge this diet, wanting back some of the foods they miss, after achieving excellent results within a month or two. Most find that their symptoms begin coming back as they go back to their regular diets. This indicates that the fungi were successfully starved, but perhaps not eradicated. With their symptoms much better and their diets now getting more exciting, this diet becomes the genesis of their health program.

So when you begin the Kaufmann Diet, some might experience a worsening of symptoms, initially, and some might experience flu-like symptoms or another intense discomfort. This reaction is called The Herxheimer reaction, and it could be the result of fungal die-off. When fungi begin to die and their poisonous byproducts start flushing out of your system, it can cause discomfort, symptoms of being sick or an initial worsening of existing problems. It is temporary, and somewhat ironically, is actally a very good sign that you’ve taken the first step towards better health by ridding your body of a potential health-destroying, parasitic organism.

It is worth remmebering that you health problems will have almost certainly taken some years to develope tand so will not resolve over night. Your health problems likely did not develop overnight.

So if your diet, first of all, looks like this! Large amounts of trans fats, refined sugar, refined carbohydrates, corn, gluten, soy, caffeine, and alcohol—not to mention the chemicals and preservatives commonly found in processed foods. How can your cells thrive on a diet devoid of nutrition? They can’t, you will more than likely have a fungal infection brewing inside you!

Sadly, the average diet is essentially a candida diet!

The diet to adopt is one high in protein and over ground vegetables because these are low in sugars, mould and carbohydrates which all keep fungal infection at bay!

A diet that is high in fruits, vegetables, and plant foods are abundant in phytochemicals, which help prevent cancer and reverse disease. The most important vegetables to eat daily are dark green leafy vegetables—such as spinach, watercress, collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelion greens, arugula, baby greens, bok choy, and kale—and sprouts. They are filled with vitamins and minerals, especially B6 and magnesium, which are required for many metabolic processes. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower contain natural compounds that assist with healthy liver function.

Animal proteins are essential too because they contain all the amino acids required to keep your body functioning. Raw nuts and seeds contain essential fatty acids needed for the cellular membrane around each cell.

Eat Animal Protein: Your body needs amino acids to regenerate and repair cells, tissues, and organs and it also keeps blood sugar levels balanced. Eating animal protein less than three times a week can create deficiencies in the body and can even exacerbate fatigue, muscle mass loss and moodiness.
